In the late hours of an August night in 2014, a violent encounter in Lakewood, New Jersey, claimed the life of William Erazo Osorio. The 50-year-old man was driving his minivan through the township when he was struck by gunfire. The gunshot wound caused him to lose control of his vehicle, which then veered off the road and crashed into a tree. The impact of the collision, however, was secondary to the fatal injury he had already sustained.
