In the West Ward of Newark, New Jersey, on the evening of April 30, 2016, a burst of gunfire shattered the night, leaving a young man's life tragically cut short. Taquan Boston, a 26-year-old Black male from Newark, was found by police on Isabella Avenue suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Officers were dispatched to the scene around 8:40 p.m. following reports of shots fired. Despite the prompt response, Boston was pronounced dead at the scene less than 20 minutes later.
