In the early morning hours of September 11, 2016, a burst of gunfire shattered the quiet of a Trenton, New Jersey neighborhood, leaving two young men dead and another wounded. Jahday Twisdale, a 16-year-old Black male, was one of the victims in the fatal shooting that occurred around 3:25 a.m. at a Shell gas station situated at the intersection of Greenwood Avenue and Chambers Street.
When police arrived at the scene, they discovered Twisdale and 21-year-old Kordrese Robinson in the parking lot, both having sustained gunshot wounds. Both young men were pronounced dead at the scene.
A third victim, a 19-year-old male, was also shot during the incident but was transported to a local hospital by a private citizen. He underwent surgery and was reported to be in critical condition but was expected to survive. Authorities later confirmed that Twisdale and Robinson were acquaintances. The shooting was detected by the city's ShotSpotter gunshot detection system, which alerted law enforcement to the gunshots in the area.
Despite the immediate police response and an ongoing investigation by the Mercer County Prosecutor's Office's Homicide Task Force, no arrests have been made in connection with the murders of Jahday Twisdale and Kordrese Robinson. The suspect or suspects involved in the shooting remain at large, and the case remains unsolved. Authorities have encouraged anyone with information regarding the shooting to come forward to assist in the investigation. The families of the victims continue to await justice for their loved ones.
