Destiny Ann Rollar, a 22-year-old mother of two, died on April 11, 2018, after being found with a gunshot wound to the head in her home on the 100 block of East Virginia Avenue in Villas, New Jersey. A graduate of Cape May County Technical High School's cosmetology program, she was known as a hardworking and outgoing woman with a smile that could brighten any room. She worked as a manager and hairstylist at Great Clips and was a consultant for Pink Zebra Home.
On the morning of April 11, Lower Township police responded to a request to check on the welfare of Destiny and her two young children. Upon arrival, officers discovered her with a severe head wound. She was airlifted to AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center, where she later succumbed to her injuries.
Her twin daughters, who were two years old at the time, were not at the residence when police arrived but were later found safe at a family member's home in Philadelphia.
The investigation quickly focused on Destiny's boyfriend, 25-year-old Charles A. Bland. On the same day Destiny was found, Bland was located in a Philadelphia hospital with a non-life-threatening, self-inflicted gunshot wound. He was taken into custody by Philadelphia police detectives on weapons offenses.
Following the initial arrest, the Cape May County Prosecutor's Office charged Bland with murder, aggravated assault, possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, and hindering his own apprehension in connection with Destiny's death. He was awaiting extradition back to New Jersey to face these charges. Described as a loving and devoted mother, Destiny was also an organ donor, continuing to give life to others even in her tragic death.
