On a late Friday evening in Roselle, New Jersey, the life of 27-year-old Justin Claiborne was tragically cut short. On June 21, 2019, at approximately 11:10 p.m., the sound of gunfire shattered the night at the Oak Park Apartments on Garden Drive. When Roselle Police Department patrol units arrived at the scene, they discovered Claiborne suffering from a gunshot wound. Despite the immediate response, he was pronounced dead shortly thereafter.
The investigation into the homicide was swiftly launched, led by the Union County Prosecutor's Office and the Union County Homicide Task Force, with assistance from the Roselle Police Department, Union County Sheriff's Office Crime Scene Unit, and the Union County Police Department Ballistics Unit. Authorities publicly identified Justin Claiborne, a resident of Roselle, as the victim the following day.
