On an autumn evening in Paterson, New Jersey, the life of 24-year-old Kelvin Mejia was tragically cut short. On Thursday, October 1, 2020, at approximately 8:46 p.m., the sound of gunfire pierced the air at the intersection of 20th Avenue and East 29th Street. When police officers arrived at the scene in response to a shooting report, they found Mejia lying in the roadway, having sustained apparent gunshot wounds.
