Helen Gaffney, aged 29, tragically lost her life on February 16, 1982, in what became known as the Rock Road massacre, one of the most horrific mass murders in Michigan's history. Helen, along with her three children—Angela (10), Tom (7), and Amy (4)—were visiting her parents' home in Farwell, Michigan, when the massacre occurred. The family had gathered to welcome Helen's sister, Garnetta Haggart, who was visiting from Florida to finalize her divorce from Robert Lee Haggart.
