Mary Ellen Donnellon Benincasa, aged 32, tragically lost her life on November 14, 1991, in a mass shooting at the United States Post Office in Royal Oak, Michigan. This incident, known as the Royal Oak post office shootings, was perpetrated by Thomas McIlvane, a disgruntled former postal worker.
