Richard Daniel Scalf, a 26-year-old police officer with the Detroit Police Department, tragically lost his life on February 5, 1999, while participating in a prostitution sting operation. Officer Scalf was attempting to arrest a suspect at the intersection of Chene and Hendrie Streets when the incident occurred.
