In the spring of 2014, a violent altercation in Pontiac, Michigan, claimed the life of 19-year-old Chris Stephens, a Black male. On the evening of May 19th, a large fight broke out at the Newman Court Apartments, shattering the night with the sound of gunfire. When the chaos subsided, Stephens had been fatally shot in the chest. Two other young men, aged 17 and 24, were also wounded in the shooting, sustaining injuries to their legs.
