In 2009, a dispute escalated to a fatal encounter for 36-year-old Shawn Johnson, a male resident of Detroit, Michigan. The incident occurred near a local business, the Asian Fish Market, and stemmed from a seemingly minor infraction. Johnson had urinated outside the establishment, which led to a heated confrontation with the market's owner, Leroy Moon. The argument quickly turned violent, and Moon fatally shot Johnson.
