In a quiet Woodhaven apartment complex, a devastating scene unfolded, leaving a family shattered and a community in shock. Ten-year-old Christopher Balzer, a fourth-grade student at Garfield Elementary School, was found deceased in what authorities would later describe as a tragic double murder-suicide. The young boy had recently moved to the Marsh Creek Apartments with his family from nearby Wyandotte.
On the evening of the incident, neighbors reported hearing several gunshots.
When family members arrived at the apartment, they discovered a horrific scene. Christopher, along with his 49-year-old grandmother, Sherry Multop, had been fatally shot. The third deceased individual was identified as Multop's 54-year-old boyfriend, Terry Lee Wyatt.
Investigators quickly determined that Wyatt was the perpetrator of the killings. After shooting both Christopher and Sherry Multop, he turned the gun on himself, taking his own life. A handgun was recovered at the scene, and law enforcement officials confirmed that there were no other suspects involved in the tragic event. The investigation concluded that Wyatt acted alone in the double murder-suicide.
