In the small village of Sebewaing, Michigan, a Caucasion woman named Margo Bonini, aged 60, became a victim in a shocking act of violence that also claimed the life of her daughter. On February 15, 2018, Margo, her husband Robert 'Bob' Bonini, 61, and their 21-year-old daughter Katelyn were found deceased in their home on Beach Street. The discovery was made after a family friend, unable to contact them for several hours, went to the residence and, seeing a figure lying on the floor through a window, alerted the authorities.
Upon entering the home, Sebewaing police officers found the three family members dead. The subsequent investigation, led by the Sebewaing Police Department with assistance from the Michigan State Police, concluded that Bob Bonini had shot and killed his wife and daughter before taking his own life. Several firearms were removed from the home as part of the investigation. Authorities estimated that the tragic events had unfolded between 12 and 24 hours before the bodies were discovered in the early hours of that Thursday morning.
The incident stunned the close-knit community of Sebewaing, where the Bonini family was well-known and described as active and well-regarded. Margo was the director of the Sebewaing Township Library, and her husband, Bob, owned a local carpet and tile-cleaning business. There were no prior records of domestic violence calls to their residence, making the violent end to their lives all the more incomprehensible to friends and neighbors. The investigation confirmed Bob Bonini as the sole perpetrator in the double murder-suicide, and with his death, the case was closed without any arrests.
