In the early morning hours of March 29, 2018, the life of Michelle Nicole Briscoe, a 36-year-old female, was tragically cut short in her Inkster, Michigan apartment. Responding to a call at approximately 6:15 a.m., police discovered her inside her residence on Cherry Valley Drive with multiple gunshot wounds to her head and shoulder areas. The grim discovery marked the end of a violent encounter that had transpired within the walls of her home.
The investigation swiftly pointed to a
primary suspect: Jerome Duckwyler, Briscoe's 35-year-old boyfriend. Events leading up to the discovery began to unfold through neighbors' accounts. They reported hearing loud noises from the couple's apartment. Shortly after, Duckwyler appeared at their door with the 4-year-old son he shared with Briscoe. He informed the neighbors that he and Michelle had been fighting and asked them to look after the child. He then requested that they call 911 before leaving the scene.
In a significant turn, Jerome Duckwyler later surrendered himself to Detroit police officers at the 9th District. The Wayne County Prosecutor's Office subsequently brought serious charges against him, including first-degree murder and felony firearms. Following his arrest, Duckwyler was arraigned in the 34th District Court in Romulus. During the legal proceedings, a probable cause hearing was set for April 11, 2018, in the 22nd District Court in Inkster. The judge ordered Duckwyler to be remanded to jail without bond as he awaited trial for the death of Michelle Briscoe.
