On May 26, 2018, a 20-year-old Black/African American male named Michael Adams was fatally shot in a drive-by incident in Detroit, Michigan. The shooting occurred on a Saturday afternoon during the Memorial Day holiday weekend. Adams was seated inside his vehicle, described as a gray Dodge Charger, in the 1300 block of Ethel Street, located just north of Schaefer Highway on the city's southwest side.
According to police reports from the scene, the incident unfolded around 2:30 p.m.
when a black vehicle pulled up alongside Adams' car. Occupants from the black vehicle opened fire, striking Adams multiple times. He sustained gunshot wounds to the head and shoulder and was pronounced dead.
Law enforcement officials investigated the homicide as part of a violent holiday weekend in the city. At the time of the incident, police noted that there had been other recent shootings in the area involving vehicles matching the description of the suspect's black car.
