In the quiet community of Sand Lake, Michigan, a tragic series of events unfolded on September 22, 2018, culminating in the deaths of James Cole and his companion, Lisa Bradley. James Cole, a 54-year-old male, was found deceased in his home alongside Bradley, age 58. The couple had fallen victim to a violent outburst fueled by a domestic dispute.
The investigation into their deaths quickly identified a suspect: Bruce Huntley, the 33-year-old son-in-law of Lisa Bradley. It was reported that Huntley's wife, Samantha Huntley, had recently left him due to domestic violence and had sought refuge at her mother's home where James Cole also resided. This separation appears to have been the catalyst for the tragic events that followed.
On that Saturday, Bruce Huntley drove to the Sand Lake residence armed with a firearm. Inside the home, he shot and killed both James Cole and Lisa Bradley. He also killed the couple's dog. Following the murders, Huntley kidnapped his estranged wife and their two young children, forcing them into his vehicle and driving away from the scene.
