In the winter of 2018, the life of Gregory Allen Murray, a 30-year-old male from Lansing, Michigan, was tragically cut short. On the afternoon of December 12th, police were called to an apartment complex in the 3200 block of South Washington Avenue. There, in the west rear parking lot, they found Murray unconscious. Despite first aid being administered at the scene, he was pronounced dead.
The investigation into his death quickly determined that Murray had been shot.
Authorities believed the incident was not a random act of violence. Within days, the Lansing Police Department announced arrests in connection with the fatal shooting. Anthony Allen Harris, a 21-year-old from Belleville, was taken into custody and faced a charge of open murder. He was also charged with carrying a concealed weapon, carrying a weapon with unlawful intent, and a felony firearm charge.
Alongside Harris, a 20-year-old Lansing woman named Emonee Marie Scott was also arrested. Scott was charged with being an accessory after the fact to a felony and lying to police officers during the investigation into Murray's death. Both individuals were arraigned in 54-A District Court. Harris was denied bond and remanded to jail to await further court proceedings.
