In the early hours of a Sunday morning in Hamtramck, Michigan, the life of 21-year-old Marquis McCray was cut short by gunfire. On December 23, 2018, at approximately 2 a.m., a shooting occurred outside the MyHookah Lounge on Joseph Campau Avenue, a tragic event that would become the city's first homicide of the year. McCray, a young man remembered by his family as good-natured and a cancer survivor, was fatally wounded in the incident.
