In the quiet city of Adrian, Michigan, the life of 67-year-old Robert Bob Braman, Sr., a Caucasian male, came to a tragic and violent end on January 15, 2021. He was found deceased inside a residence on Frank Street, the victim of a double homicide alongside 82-year-old Samuel Compton. The grim discovery was made by Adrian police officers who were called to the home late that Friday evening.
The investigation quickly led authorities to a person of interest, 34-year-old Christopher
Lee-Ryan Carden. When officers located Carden in Madison Township, he fled in a stolen vehicle, leading to a pursuit that ended when he crashed. Carden was then taken into custody without further incident. He was subsequently charged with two counts of open murder, one count of unlawful driving away of a motor vehicle, and one count of third-degree fleeing a police officer.
As the case unfolded, a potential motive for the brutal killings emerged. Samuel Compton, the other victim, was a registered sex offender and was facing charges of second-degree criminal sexual conduct with a person under 13 at the time of his death. Reports indicated that the victim in that case was a relative of Christopher Carden. It is not known if Braman was involved in the alleged sexual misconduct.
Initially, Christopher Lee-Ryan Carden's trial was set to take place but was delayed. He ultimately entered a plea of guilty to two counts of second-degree murder. For these crimes, he was sentenced to life in prison. Carden is also serving a sentence for unlawfully driving away an automobile.
