In the autumn of 2021, the life of 20-year-old Kendall Frost was tragically cut short on a Tuesday evening in Grand Rapids, Michigan. Frost was fatally shot while she was in a car at the intersection of Paris Avenue SE and Griggs Street SE. First responders arrived at the scene to find her with a gunshot wound. She was rushed to a local hospital in critical condition but ultimately succumbed to her injuries.
In the wake of her death, family and friends gathered for a vigil at the site of
the shooting to honor her memory, releasing a multitude of balloons into the sky. Her grandmother, Marge Frost, remembered her as having a smile that stretched from ear to ear and a way of making everyone around her feel loved and important. Kendall was also the cousin of Kent County Commissioner Robert Womack, a known advocate against gun violence in the community. Womack expressed his family's heartbreak, describing his cousin as a talented and educated young woman who was dearly loved. He conveyed that she was an innocent victim, not involved in the street violence that took her life.
The investigation into Kendall Frost's homicide has been ongoing. In January 2022, a significant development occurred when U.S. Marshals arrested her 22-year-old boyfriend, Shelton Cornell Williams, in Florida. Williams was with Frost in the car when she was shot and had reportedly fled the scene before police arrived. He had been missing since the incident. However, authorities have clarified that Williams was arrested for a probation violation and is considered a key witness in the case, not a suspect in her death. At the time of his arrest, no suspects had been officially identified, and no arrests had been made directly in connection with Kendall Frost's murder. The Grand Rapids Police Department has continued to ask for anyone with information to come forward.
