On November 30, 2021, a mass shooting at Oxford High School in Oxford Township, Michigan, resulted in the death of 16-year-old male student Tate Myre and three other students. Myre was a junior and an honor student who played on the school's varsity football team. During the attack, he was reportedly shot while attempting to disarm the gunman. A sheriff's deputy rushed him to the hospital in a squad car, but he died from his injuries en route.
