On May 21, 2022, the body of 19-year-old Cameron Duckworth, a male from White Lake, Michigan, was discovered near a pond in the Cedarbrook Estates Mobile Home Park. Alongside him was the body of his 16-year-old friend, Drake Mancuso. Both victims had suffered multiple gunshot wounds.
The investigation into the double homicide led police to two 18-year-old suspects, Steven Morrow and Jesse Wright.
Authorities determined that Morrow and Wright had concocted a plan to rob Duckworth and Mancuso. The four young men drove to the mobile home park and went to a wooded area near the pond. It was there that Morrow allegedly shot and killed both Duckworth and Mancuso. Following the shootings, Morrow and Wright, who was the driver, fled the scene and attempted to dispose of evidence. The items stolen from the victims included money, a backpack, and a watch.
Both suspects were taken into custody the day after the discovery of the bodies. Morrow and Wright were charged with two counts of felony murder, two counts of armed robbery, and four counts of possession of a firearm in the commission of a felony. Morrow was identified as the shooter, while Wright was identified as the getaway driver. In court, Morrow pleaded guilty to felony murder and armed robbery charges. Wright pleaded guilty to a lesser charge of accessory after the fact and was sentenced to less than a year in jail with credit for time served, in addition to being ordered to pay restitution. Morrow faces a potential life sentence without the possibility of parole.
