On a summer afternoon in Detroit, the life of Karmen Marie Hogan, a 36-year-old Black / African American woman, was tragically cut short. On June 30, 2022, near the intersection of Van Dyke and Badger on the city's east side, Hogan was shot multiple times while sitting in her car. The incident occurred around 12:30 p.m., and she was pronounced dead at the scene.
In the time since the shooting, the investigation into her death has remained open, yet no arrests have been made, and no
suspects have been publicly identified by the Detroit Police Department. The case has proven challenging due to a lack of witnesses and concrete leads. In an effort to generate new information, Crime Stoppers has offered a reward of up to $2,500 for tips that lead to the arrest of the person or persons responsible for her death.
Hogan's family continues to seek justice and closure. Her older sister recounted a distressing phone call with Karmen just before she was killed, in which Karmen mentioned being in an argument and feeling she was in danger. The family has expressed their hope that a tip from the public will provide the breakthrough needed to solve the case and bring those responsible to justice.
