On August 30, 2022, a tragic incident occurred in Portage, Michigan, resulting in the deaths of 6-year-old Zenzia Bates, her mother Brianna Bates, and her father Henry Bates. According to reports, Henry Bates, 39, shot and killed his wife Brianna, 31, and their daughter Zenzia before turning the gun on himself in what authorities believe was a murder-suicide. The couple's three other children, aged 13, 11, and 3, managed to escape the apartment unharmed during the shooting.
