Deputy Sheriff Larkin V. Pettit, aged 37, tragically lost his life on March 8, 1981, in Hernando, Mississippi. Deputy Pettit was responding to a domestic dispute when he was fatally shot. He had been serving with the DeSoto County Sheriff's Department for five years at the time of his death.
