In the small community of Coila, Mississippi, the evening of July 29, 2015, was shattered by a senseless act of violence that claimed the life of 53-year-old Kenneth 'Kim' Charles Daves. A white male known as a local business owner, Daves was discovered lifeless on the floor behind the counter of his family's K&M Grocery store. The Carroll County Sheriff's Office received a call around 9:30 p.m. and upon arrival, deputies found that Daves had been fatally shot.
