In the small community of Coila, Mississippi, a young man's life was cut short in a burst of violence that shattered the late-night quiet. Jaheim Montreal Walker, a 20-year-old male, was fatally shot on the night of Thursday, March 14, 2024. The incident unfolded in the parking lot of a local establishment known as Katie's Place, a club in the Coila area.
On that Thursday evening, at approximately 10:22 p.m., Carroll County Sheriff's Deputies were dispatched to the club following reports
of a shooting. Upon their arrival, they discovered Jaheim Montreal Walker unresponsive in the parking lot. Law enforcement initiated CPR in an attempt to save his life, continuing their efforts until MedStat emergency services arrived. Despite their attempts, Walker was pronounced dead at the scene.
A Carroll County Constable who had been inside the club at the time of the shooting, went to the parking lot where witnesses identified the alleged shooter. Acting on this information, the constable proceeded to the suspect's residence and made an arrest. The individual taken into custody was 40-year-old Reginald Cortez Lindsey.
Lindsey was subsequently charged with First Degree Murder in connection with the death of Jaheim Montreal Walker. In addition to the murder charge, he also faced a charge of Possession of a Firearm by a Felon. Following his arrest, Lindsey was transported to the Carroll Montgomery Regional Correctional Facility. During his initial court appearance, he was denied bond and remains incarcerated. The motive for the shooting has not been publicly released.
