On a summer evening in Union, Mississippi, the life of 24-year-old Billy Ra'Nardrick Talley was tragically cut short. On July 1, 2016, what began as a verbal disagreement earlier in the day between several individuals would later escalate into deadly violence. The male victim, along with another Union resident, Hosey Campbell Jr., age 47, found themselves in a renewed confrontation on Mason Street around 9:30 p.m.
This second encounter turned fatal when guns were introduced into the conflict.
During the shooting that ensued, both Talley and Campbell sustained mortal wounds. Hosey Campbell Jr. was pronounced dead at the scene. Billy Talley was rushed to Laird's Hospital in Union, but he ultimately succumbed to his injuries there. A third person was also wounded in the shooting but survived after receiving medical treatment and being released from the hospital.
