In the summer of 2016, a tragedy unfolded in a normally quiet corner of Mississippi. Darrel Glen Jordan, a 64-year-old man, was found dead at a residence on Eret Road, near the State Line community in Wayne County. The quiet of that July day was shattered when deputies and investigators from the Wayne County Sheriff's Department were called to the scene of a violent incident.
Upon their arrival, law enforcement discovered Mr. Jordan had been shot multiple times.
Walking in the front yard of the residence was a man identified as Jonathan Kyle Jordan, who was 34 years old at the time. He was reportedly carrying a semi-automatic weapon. The authorities would later reveal that the younger man was the son of the deceased.
The Wayne County Coroner, David Pugh, was summoned to the location and officially pronounced Darrel Jordan dead at the scene. In the immediate aftermath of the discovery, Jonathan Kyle Jordan was taken into custody.
Following the initial investigation, Jonathan Kyle Jordan was formally charged with the murder of his father. He made his first appearance in Justice Court the day after the incident, where a judge denied him bond. The case then moved into the judicial system for prosecution.
