In the early morning hours of January 25, 2017, the quiet of a Courtland, Mississippi, neighborhood was shattered by a fatal act of domestic violence. Alfred Nicholson, a male resident of the town, was shot and killed in his home on Greenbriar road. The Panola County Sheriff's Office responded to the scene, where they found that Nicholson had sustained a fatal wound to the chest from a 16-gauge shotgun.
