On a Monday morning in Pascagoula, Mississippi, the life of 34-year-old Jerry Lee Lyons Jr. was tragically cut short. On May 22, 2017, Lyons, a Black male, was shot multiple times at a residence on Martin Street. The incident unfolded at approximately 8:36 a.m., prompting a swift response from Pascagoula police and fire units who arrived to find a wounded Lyons on the floor of the home.
Emergency responders immediately began to administer aid to Lyons before he was transported by
ambulance to Singing River Hospital. Despite their efforts, he was pronounced dead at the hospital. Investigators learned that the shooting was the result of a domestic-related incident. According to police reports, Lyons had been attempting to force his way into the home at the time he was shot.
