In a tragic turn of events on a Wednesday in Richland, Mississippi, a family was shattered by a violent act that claimed the lives of two teenage siblings. Seventeen-year-old Kaia Marioneaux, a female student at Richland High School, was shot and killed on February 28, 2018. The incident, which took place at her own home, also resulted in the death of her 18-year-old brother, Nye'Cole Marioneaux. A third sibling, Kaia's twin brother, was also shot but survived the attack.
