A 45-year-old woman from Monticello, Mississippi, Stephanie Ann Hall, died in what authorities have described as a domestic dispute that escalated to a fatal shooting. The incident, which unfolded on a Friday morning, ended a chapter of what appears to have been a troubled relationship.
Hall was at the residence of her boyfriend, 50-year-old John Clifton Hill, when she was shot in the head. She lived at the home with Hill and her 16-year-old daughter.
Reports suggest that Hall had informed Hill the night before the shooting of her intention to move out of the residence they shared. It is believed that Hall's teenage daughter may have been a witness to the violent act and was the one to alert the authorities.
After the shooting, Hill fled the scene. Law enforcement officials began a search for his vehicle and subsequently received a tip that led them to a mobile home just a few miles from the site of the shooting. Upon their arrival, they found Hill on the porch with two other individuals. While the others complied with the deputies' commands to raise their hands, Hill tragically took his own life with his weapon.
Stephanie Ann Hall was transported to the University of Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson, where she succumbed to her injuries the following day. Prior to this fatal incident, there had been indications of turmoil in their relationship. Authorities had previously been called to Hall's church to remove Hill after he caused a disturbance there. It was also reported that Hall and her daughter had moved out of the home they shared with Hill in the past, only to have moved back in at a later time.
