On a tragic December day in 2018, the life of 66-year-old Annie Lee Walton was cut short in a hail of gunfire at her home in the Palmetto community of Mississippi. The fatal drive-by shooting, which occurred on December 7th, also left her grandson and three other individuals wounded. It was a violent end to a life, and one that soon unraveled a story of prior violence and alleged systemic failures that allowed a dangerous individual to remain on the streets.
