A celebration of life turned into a scene of unimaginable tragedy on the night of March 1, 2019, in Carrollton, Mississippi, ending in the death of 38-year-old Brooks Hooker Harrell and two others. Brooks, a registered nurse, and her husband, 44-year-old Jim Harrell, were hosting a birthday party at their home for a friend, 27-year-old Marlee Jones Barnhill. The festive evening took a dark turn when Marlee's husband, Michael Martin Barnhill, became intoxicated and aggressive.
