On a spring evening in Woodville, Mississippi, the life of 24-year-old Lakendris Chisholm was cut short by gunfire. The fatal encounter unfolded on May 1, 2019, during what was described as a shootout. The exchange of bullets resulted in Chisholm's death and left another individual wounded.

Within a day of the shooting, the Woodville Police Department, with assistance from the Wilkinson County Sheriff’s Office, apprehended a suspect. The individual taken into custody was 18-year-old Clarence “Lil Daddy” Shorts Jr. of Woodville.
