In the early morning hours of July 3, 2020, the life of 26-year-old Coner Noel Kyle was tragically cut short in Baldwyn, Mississippi. Kyle, a White female, was found deceased from a gunshot wound at Adams Auto Sales on South 4th Street. The shooting occurred before 8 a.m. at the used car dealership where she and the suspect had been living.
The Baldwyn Police Department quickly identified Garry Scott McDonald, then 50 years old, as the suspect in the fatal shooting.
Investigators believed the incident stemmed from a domestic situation, describing the relationship between Kyle and McDonald as that of a boyfriend and girlfriend. An eyewitness at the scene reported that McDonald killed his ex-girlfriend. Following the shooting, a manhunt was initiated for McDonald, who was considered armed and dangerous. Authorities stated he might be driving a gold Chevy Cavalier with an Itawamba County license plate.
After a week-long search, the manhunt for McDonald came to an end on July 10, 2020. He was captured and arrested without incident in a wooded area in Prentiss County, near Highway 366 and County Road 5321. At the time of the incident, it was reported that McDonald had been working as a repo man at the auto dealership for a short time after being released from prison.
