In the small town of Byhalia, Mississippi, the life of 50-year-old Martin Saulsberry was tragically cut short on November 21, 2020. He was discovered in his home on Hernando Road, having sustained multiple gunshot wounds. Despite being rushed to the Regional One Medical Center in Memphis, Tennessee, he succumbed to his injuries.
The subsequent investigation into the death of the male victim led by the Marshall County Sheriff's Department, in conjunction with the Shelby County Gang Unit, pointed to a violent crime. Investigators at the scene recovered shell casings from a 223 shotgun and a 9 mm assault rifle. The firearms themselves were later found in a wooded area near Saulsberry's residence, painting a grim picture of the events that transpired.
Within weeks, law enforcement officials began to close in on the individuals they believed to be responsible. Four suspects were identified and apprehended in connection with the murder.
