In the early hours of April 29, 2022, the life of 29-year-old Greteva Nicole Frierson was tragically cut short in what police have described as a senseless act of domestic violence. Just after 1 a.m., neighbors in the 600 block of Saddle Creek Drive in Oxford, Mississippi, were startled by the sounds of yelling followed by gunshots, prompting a 911 call.
When officers from the Oxford Police Department arrived at the scene, they discovered Frierson suffering from a fatal gunshot wound.
The investigation quickly pointed to one individual: Frierson's 33-year-old boyfriend, Justin Maurice Morris. Authorities located him nearby in the 400 block of Saddle Creek Drive and took him into custody without incident. In the wake of the tragedy, Morris was formally charged with murder, and a Justice Court Judge set his bond at a formidable $1 million. The initial investigation suggested that the incident stemmed from a domestic dispute.
Greteva Frierson, known affectionately as 'Teva' or 'Te,' was a mother to two children, J'Khiland and Jade Frierson. She was remembered for her beautiful voice and her passion for cosmetology, which led her to acquire a braiding license and start her own business. Tragically, her life was taken far too soon, leaving behind a grieving family, including her mother, grandmother, siblings, and many friends and clients who cherished her.
