In the small city of Cleveland, Mississippi, the life of 17-year-old Montavius Love, a promising Black male high school student, was tragically cut short on October 23, 2022. Known for his good-natured personality and his passion for music and sports, he was an active member of the Cleveland Central High School band and football team. His outgoing and helpful nature had made him a well-regarded figure in his community. The teenager's life was violently ended, an event that sent ripples of grief and shock through the town.
The day following the discovery of Montavius's death, the Cleveland Police Department announced a significant development in the case. Investigators had identified a suspect, and on October 24, 2022, a warrant was issued for the arrest of Quincy Lewis in connection with the murder of Montavius Love. Later that same day, at approximately 2:00 PM, law enforcement officers took Lewis into custody. At the time of his arrest, he was found to be in possession of a stolen firearm.
Following his arrest by the Cleveland Police Department, with assistance from the Bolivar County Sheriff's Department, Quincy Lewis was charged with murder. He was subsequently booked into the Bolivar County Regional Correctional Facility. As of late 2023, court and jail records indicated that Lewis was being held without bond while awaiting trial for the murder charge and a charge of possession of a firearm.
