In the winter of 1902, a tragic and violent encounter unfolded in Caddo County, Oklahoma, leading to the death of 31-year-old Deputy Sheriff George Beck. On January 15th, Deputy Beck, along with Sheriff Frank Smith and another deputy, attempted to serve warrants on five individuals suspected of horse theft who were holed up in a cabin situated between Anadarko and Fort Cobb. The suspects were identified as members of the notorious Casey Gang.
