In the small city of Anadarko, Oklahoma, a young man's life was cut tragically short during what should have been a night of celebration. Gabriel Tate Goombi-Mandujano, a 20-year-old male of the Wichita and Affiliated Tribes, was at a party at a home on Sunset Drive on the evening of October 4, 2014. During the gathering, an altercation broke out, and in the ensuing chaos, Gabriel was shot.
He was rushed to a local hospital but ultimately succumbed to his injuries, leaving a community in mourning and a family devastated by their loss.
Gabriel, who was born on August 3, 1994, in Gallup, New Mexico, had moved to Anadarko as an infant and spent his life there. He was a former student of Anadarko High School, Gracemont Public Schools, and Riverside Indian School. Known for his love of basketball and skateboarding, he was a member of the Grace Christian Fellowship Church. His sudden and violent death sent shockwaves through the tight-knit community, prompting a swift and thorough investigation by the Anadarko Police Department with assistance from the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation.
The investigation quickly led to a suspect, another man who had been present at the party. Michael Lee Autaubo, 30 years old at the time, was identified as the individual responsible for the shooting. Within a short period, authorities gathered enough evidence to arrest Autaubo and charge him with first-degree murder. He was subsequently booked into the Caddo County Jail. The arrest brought a small measure of solace to a grieving family and community, as the legal process began to seek justice for the untimely death of Gabriel Goombi-Mandujano.
