In the winter of 2017, a gathering of friends in a Midwest City home took a tragic and violent turn, resulting in the death of 39-year-old Darrel Barksdale Jr. On January 28th, Barksdale, along with two other men, Donielle Gregory, 39, and Terence Laval Jackson, 51, were shot and killed in what would become the city's first-ever triple homicide. The men had been invited to the home of their friend, Raymond Pew.
According to witness statements, the men were spending time together,
drinking and smoking marijuana, when gunfire erupted. In the aftermath, Barksdale, Gregory, and Jackson were found dead, and the host, Raymond Pew, had fled the scene. The incident left the community in shock and the victims' families searching for answers. One of Gregory's cousins expressed a deep belief that he was simply in the wrong place at the wrong time.
The search for the suspect, Raymond Pew, did not last long, as he eventually turned himself in to authorities. In connection with the case, an Oklahoma City woman was also accused of harboring Pew while he was a fugitive. The loss of Darrel Barksdale Jr. and the two other men was a devastating event that left a lasting impact on their loved ones and the wider community.
