In the quiet town of Guymon, Oklahoma, a young man's life was cut tragically short in a violent confrontation. Jesus Freddy Alfredo Alvarez Catalan, a 20-year-old male, was killed on Sunday, July 29, 2018, in an incident that also claimed the life of another man. The events unfolded as a grim sequence of escalating violence, leaving two families to mourn their losses.
The Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation reported that the altercation began when a vehicle driven by Alvarez Catalan
struck and killed 25-year-old Robert Prieto. What followed was a swift and fatal retaliation. In the immediate aftermath of the collision, Robert Prieto's brother, 24-year-old Rodney Prieto, shot and killed Alvarez Catalan. This sudden eruption of violence in the small Panhandle community drew the attention of local and state law enforcement.
Following the deadly encounter, the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation, in conjunction with the Texas County District Attorney's Task Force, the Texas County Sheriff's Office, and the Guymon Police Department, launched an investigation into the double homicide. Their efforts quickly led to a suspect. Rodney Prieto was arrested and subsequently booked into jail on one count of first-degree murder for the shooting death of Jesus 'Freddy' Alfredo Alvarez Catalan. The case was then set to be turned over to the Texas County District Attorney's office to proceed through the justice system.
