In the fading daylight of October 16, 2019, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, the life of 29-year-old Hispanic male Renaldo Rivas was cut short in an act of sudden violence. He was near Southwest 25th Street and Shartel Avenue when he was fatally shot. The initial investigation by local authorities pointed to a dispute that escalated, leading to the tragic outcome for Rivas.
He was rushed to a nearby hospital but ultimately succumbed to his injuries.
The investigation into Rivas's death quickly identified a suspect, Isaac Billela. Believing Billela had fled the state, the Oklahoma City Police Department enlisted the help of the U.S. Marshals Service to track him down. The search for Billela extended beyond Oklahoma's borders, leading authorities to Ballinger, Texas. It was there, on a Thursday following the shooting, that Billela was located and taken into custody without incident.
Following his arrest in Texas, Isaac Billela was extradited back to Oklahoma to face charges in connection with the death of Renaldo Rivas. He was subsequently booked into the Oklahoma County jail. The charge brought against him was first-degree murder, alleging that he was the individual who fired the shots that ended Rivas's life.
