In the final days of 2019, a tragedy unfolded in an Owasso, Oklahoma apartment that cut short the life of Tyler Lee Collins. The 21-year-old male was fatally shot on December 30, 2019, in what authorities have described as a drug-related robbery. His death prompted an intensive investigation by the Owasso Police Department, leading to the identification of two brothers as the primary suspects.
The investigation led police to 24-year-old Montre Wilson and his 17-year-old brother, Devin
Wilson. Evidence gathered by detectives pointed to the Wilson brothers as the individuals who allegedly shot Collins during the robbery attempt at his apartment near 4th and Main. An interesting turn of events aided in their identification; the suspects' getaway vehicle reportedly got stuck in a yard about half a mile from the crime scene. Officers who responded to that incident were wearing body cameras, and the footage from that encounter proved crucial in identifying the Wilsons.
On February 3, 2020, Owasso detectives, in collaboration with the Skiatook Police and the US Marshals Violent Crimes Task Force, executed arrest warrants at residences in Tulsa and Skiatook. Montre Wilson of Tulsa and Devin Wilson of Skiatook were taken into custody and subsequently faced charges of First Degree Murder. In addition to the main suspects, two other individuals were arrested earlier in January for their alleged involvement after the fact, accused of altering the crime scene and providing false statements to investigators.
