On May 13, 2020, Brandon Ray Stane, a 30-year-old male, died in Stilwell, Oklahoma. His life was cut short when he was found deceased at a residence on S. 4725 Road from a gunshot wound. Known affectionately as 'Beep,' Brandon was born on October 31, 1989, in Stockton, California. He was a father to two boys and was known for his love of the outdoors, often spending his time fishing or making carpentry gifts for his family.
Following the discovery of Stane's body, the Adair County
Sheriff's Office requested assistance from the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation to look into the homicide. Through interviews and evidence collection, investigators identified 35-year-old Tyler Presley as the suspect in the shooting. Before first responders could arrive at the scene, Presley had already fled, taking Stane's 1995 Ford Ranger pickup truck. An arrest warrant was promptly issued for Presley.
A manhunt for Presley ensued, involving multiple law enforcement agencies from both Oklahoma and Arkansas. Presley was considered armed and dangerous. The day after the incident, on May 14, 2020, Presley was located and taken into custody without incident in Adair County at approximately 5:45 p.m. Stane's stolen truck was later found in Springdale.
