On the evening of March 6, 2021, a distressing scene unfolded in a home in Jay, Oklahoma, culminating in the tragic death of Annie Marie Weeley, a female resident. A Delaware County Sheriff's Deputy was dispatched to the residence following a report of shots being fired. Upon arriving at approximately 11:17 p.m., the deputy discovered a grim situation. Annie Marie Weeley was found on the floor, unresponsive with a gunshot wound to her chest.
Another female family member was also discovered on a couch, having sustained gunshot wounds to her stomach and lower back.
Both victims were immediately transported to a local hospital for medical attention. Despite the efforts of medical personnel, Annie Marie Weeley was pronounced dead. The second victim was rushed into emergency surgery to address her critical injuries. The events of that night forever altered the lives of the Weeley family, leaving a wake of sorrow and violence. The incident was a result of a domestic violence situation that escalated to a fatal conclusion.
The suspect in this harrowing incident was identified as Annie Marie Weeley's own son, Christopher Weeley. Approximately an hour after the discovery of the victims, law enforcement located Christopher Weeley as he was exiting a black sedan. He did not comply with the deputies' commands and actively resisted arrest. Ultimately, he was subdued and taken into custody, bringing a swift, albeit somber, end to the initial phase of the investigation.
In April 2022, Christopher Weeley, then 42, pleaded guilty in federal court to second-degree murder in Indian Country and assault with intent to commit murder in Indian Country. He admitted to fatally shooting his mother, Annie Marie Weeley, and to shooting the second family member twice during the violent domestic dispute. His guilty plea brought a degree of legal closure to the tragic and violent events that transpired on that fateful night in March.
