On August 7, 2011, six-year-old Ariana Gibson was tragically shot and killed while she was sleeping on the couch at her grandmother's home in the Englewood neighborhood of Chicago. The shooting took place in the early hours of the morning, and Ariana was one of three people struck by gunfire during this incident. Two teenagers were also wounded but survived the shooting.
