Oscar Harp, age 32, male, was a deputy sheriff in Sawyer County, Wisconsin when he was killed on October 8, 1910, during the final hours of a years-long standoff at Cameron Dam on the Thornapple River near the town of Winter. A large posse had surrounded the log home of John F. Dietz, who had been resisting arrests and court orders in a bitter dispute over logging tolls and flowage rights.
