Oscar L. Harp, a 31-year-old White/Caucasian male, was serving as a deputy sheriff in Sawyer County, Wisconsin, when he was killed on October 8, 1910, during one of the most dramatic confrontations in the county's early history. Harp's recorded birth date was March 21, 1879, making him younger than the age originally reported for him. His death occurred during the armed siege of John F. Dietz's farm near Winter, Wisconsin, an episode that became widely known as the Battle of Cameron Dam.
